St Clair Type 5 Liner - Super Rare
An Original WW2 US St Clair Type 5 Liner.
If you collect helmet liners you will not need me to tell you how rare this liner is. In theory it shouldn’t exist because it goes against everything we know about the evolution of the liner.
The OD3 cotton is held to the liner by unpainted A washers, there is a nice early double wire sweatband and a nape strap. The liner shell itself is in pretty good condition for a St Clair, the exterior has been repainted at some stage. The all important green painted interior is pretty complete, but is flaking around the brim which is pretty common on Type 1 liners. The SC stamp is present and in early small format.
Overall a great used example.
Fresh from my own St Clair collection...
