Here we have a rarely seen WW2 M-1 helmet grouping named to a veteran of the 6th Armored Division.

PFC John P Napoleon was a member Co.A/50th Armored Infantry Battalion which was attached to the 6th Armored Division. During the Normandy breakout he was seriously wounded in action near Avranches, He was a .30 cal gunner riding aboard a half track the column was hit by an anti tank gun. Napoleon and his assistant dismounted and tried to flank the gun, motor fire was targeted on them and both were hit. This ended the war for John Napoleon.

The grouping consists of a FB helmet with 6th Armored badge painted on the front, early style dog tags, un-named Purple Heart in coffin box, 2 photo albums of early war training with tanks, half tracks and jeeps, wallet with sweetheart pictures London hotel ticket, 6th AD history book.

Let’s be honest they don’t get much better than this, painted M-1 attributed to Normandy Purple Heart veteran...
